The only man who is not a hypocrite is the one who believes in nothing

Hypocrisy is behavior that does not conform with claimed belief. So, a man who espouses trust, faith, and confidence in what he asserts to be true, but does not consistently live up to that claim is guilty of hypocrisy.

I am that man.

In fact, all who recognize truth are as well because in our fallen state no man is capable of perfectly conforming his behavior to his beliefs. If we were, we would have no need of a savior, for all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God.

But what of the man who believes in nothing? If hypocrisy requires belief and belief is based upon truth and truth is a transcendent fundamental or spiritual reality, what of the man who rejects the very notion of truth? Can that man be a hypocrite?

No. Having denied the existence of objective truth and claiming no beliefs, it is axiomatic that such a man cannot be a hypocrite for there is nothing for him to live up to. If confronted about behavior that does not conform to a transcendent and fundamental reality, he can simply shrug his shoulders and say, “I am my own truth.”

And if he genuinely believes that he would be correct. And doomed.

The only man who is not a hypocrite is the one who believes in nothing
