The World must conspire to obscure the Kingdom sought
The Kingdom is God’s reign and rule over heaven and earth. It exists now spiritually for those with faith and will exist physically for all upon Christ’s return. Thus, for those called according to His purpose, the Kingdom is both a present and future reality even though the believer cannot fully see it now.
Â
The World opposes the Kingdom. Absent faith in the divine, those of the World place their hope in things of man. Because this puts them outside of right relationship with the God who made them this produces anxiety, like that of a man boarding a plane who thinks he might have left the stove on but is not sure. He wonders if he has misplaced his hope.
Â
That wonder is a seed of faith that if watered and fed may grow into a belief that leads the man to seek the Kingdom. If he does that, he will break the World’s hold over him and be free. This is not what the World wants, so it confuses the seeker to convince him that what he is searching for does not exist.
Â
To keep a man in chains, the World must conspire to obscure the Kingdom sought.
