It is a man’s actions that reveal his beliefs
A man with an impure heart is quick to pronounce his beliefs and denounce the beliefs of others because his transitory emotions rather than foundational principles rule over him. As a result, he speaks impulsively without thought to the price he must pay for what he has said.
In contrast, a man with a pure heart speaks carefully because there is integrity between his beliefs and what he says and does. Because he is subject to principles rather than ruled by his emotions, he carefully counts the cost of every word from his mouth.
But in both cases, it is what the man does rather than what he says that reveals what he believes. The impure heart will act in accord with its selfish desires regardless of earlier proclamations to the contrary, while the pure heart will act in accord with earlier stated principles regardless of circumstance.
To decide then what a man genuinely believes, look to what he does rather than what he says because it is a man’s actions that reveal his beliefs.
