Vision requires purity of heart
Vision is the recognition of advantage and the means needed to achieve it. It is the ability to see something better for the future than what exists in the present. To see past the present requires a view unobstructed by things that do not belong.
Purity is the state of freedom from things that do not belong, things that adulterate or contaminate. A pure heart is unencumbered by such things. An impure heart is not, and because it is not it produces thoughts, feelings, and emotions that cloud vision. A man with clouded vision can not see past the present because it is the present and its discontents that consume him.
The pure-hearted man sets his sights beyond his present state. He does not look down at his feet but rather to the heavens above for that is where advantage lies, not just for him but for everyone he loves.
With discipline, he fends off anything that would contaminate him for he knows that vision requires purity of heart.
