RELATIONSHIPS

Nothing that brings a man closer to God can be bad and nothing that leads him farther away can be good

We were meant to be in relationship with our Creator. That was the original design. But when sin entered the World through Adam, we became separated from God. That separation is not what God yearns for us.

God wants to restore our relationship with Him, to draw us closer. So, He provides us with spiritual disciplines to help us move toward Him. Through such things (like prayer, Bible study, fasting, and worship) we achieve spiritual growth that transforms us into what God intended, people with whom He can be in relationship. None of these things can be bad.

But, because God wants us to freely choose a relationship with Him, He also allows things in the World that will draw us away from Him. Through Scripture, He warns us that these things (like love of money, lust, and selfishness) will pull us away from Him if we indulge in them. None of these things can be good.
