Making proximate and productive contact with the Seeker

Luke 9:6

So they set out and went from village to village, proclaiming the good news and healing people everywhere.

Engagement is the second of the four fins a man of God employs as an Agitator to stir other men into action. First, he embodies Christ by being, knowing, and doing what He does. Second, he Engages with the Seeker to build a relationship with him.

Engagement requires both physical and emotional proximity. The Agitator knows that he cannot stir a man into action unless he first builds a relationship with him by going to where the Seeker is, both geographically and spiritually. This is why Jesus said “therefore, go and make disciples of all nations” in Matthew 28:19. He did not expect His church to built of bricks in mortar in Jerusalem, but through the making of Disciples throughout the world, one Seeker at a time.

There is no set formula for Engagement. In fact, because every Agitator comes equipped with his own unique spiritual gift it would make no sense for there to be one. Just as Christ commissioned Paul as apostle to the Gentiles, each of us set apart for service in separate ways, for we are all God’s handiwork, created in Christ Jesus to perform good works that God has prepared for us in advance to do (Ephesians 2:10). The Agitator does good not only to provide for urgent needs but to lead a productive life in the making of Disciples. (Titus 3:14).

By Engaging, the Agitator initiates and builds a relationship with the Seeker, a man who has felt a stirring in his heart brought on by recognition that he is not in right relation with God.
