Being who Christ is, knowing what Christ knows, and doing what Christ does

1 John 2:5-6

But if anyone obeys his word, love for God is truly made complete in them. This is how we know we are in him: Whoever claims to live in him must live as Jesus did.

Agitation is stirring men into action toward Mission accomplishment as Disciples who dedicate their lives to learning, imitating, and following Christ. Like the agitator in a washing machine, there are four fins a man of God employs to stir Seekers into action, the first of which is to Embody Christ.

To embody something is to bring it to life through action, the way a man embodies leadership by being what a leader is, knowing what a leader knows, and doing what a leader does. Though leadership is an abstract concept, a leader brings it into concrete existence by what he consistently says and does and the way he lives his life.

Christ is not abstract—being both fully man and God who once walked amongst us and will do so again—but until that day the Seeker must rely on faith alone to know Him. In this sense, at least at the outset of the Seeker’s walk, Christ is abstract.

Now, Christ is man-God while his Agitators are merely men of God. And yet, Christ commissioned us to make Disciples in His name—to stir Seekers into action to effectuate God’s Plan of reconciliation and transformation. To do so effectively, we must Embody Christ in all we say and do. We must do our best to be Christ, know Christ, and do what Christ does. If we do not start there, Jesus stays an abstraction in the heart and mind of the Seeker.
